Key Role Details

The Role:

The Salesforce Support Administrator will report directly to the Senior Data & Operations Manager to support management of Salesforce and other connected platforms. This role collaborates with all departments of the organization in managing and completing the organization’s platform and data tickets that can include but is not limited to fixing operational errors, creating new Salesforce builds, improvements, and integrations.

Contractor Rate: $35-50/hour, dependent on level of Salesforce expertise and experience

Time Commitment: Estimated 15-20 hrs/week, with at least 15 of those hours during VFA’s business hours (M-F 9-5 ET/CT) spread over three days during the regular work week

Start Date: As early as 3/1/2024

The Context:

Venture For America is committed to improving the safety and efficacy of our digital infrastructure to better support our operations. This commitment led to the creation of the Data & Operations department in 2022. The Senior Data & Operations Manager has collaborated with internal stakeholders and consultants to help lay the groundwork required to leverage Salesforce as our primary data & relationship management tool. Now that the initial framework is in place, we’ve identified a need for additional support to aid in continuing to improve and maintain our Salesforce environment as we work to increase adoption of the platform throughout the organization. In the long run, we aspire to add additional customizations to our build to meet the needs of our team and to improve the user experience.

What You’ll Do:

Platform & Data Administration

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, and fellow VFA team members to properly administer Salesforce functions ensuring that Salesforce is meeting the needs of the department, as well as the other VFA-owned tools and systems
  • In collaboration with the Senior Data & Operations Manager, define users for each system and enable the appropriate data distribution to the right user in the appropriate format
  • Execute a variety of functions to support the security, cleanliness, accessibility, and usability of our organization’s data
  • Support the Senior Ops & Data Manager in implementing and maintaining data integrity and data storage

Salesforce User Support and Ticketing Management

  • Support the ticketing system by assigning, resolving, escalating tickets as needed in collaboration with the Senior Data & Operations Manager in a timely manner
  • Serve as a support staff member for FAQs and errors within Salesforce and other systems for the VFA staff
  • Support the deployment of Salesforce objects, reporting, and views according to end users’ information needs
  • Support Senior Data & Operations Manager with Salesforce integrations to increase organizational efficiency and adoption

Prior Experience and Skills:

  • Demonstrated Salesforce Proficiency:
    • Prior experience working significantly within Salesforce, understanding how the core infrastructure (objects + fields) work in Salesforce and how they can be custom built, edited, and modified; can build dashboards and reports with little to no direction
    • An ideal candidate is:
      • Salesforce Certified Administrator or Salesforce Certified Nonprofit Cloud Consultant, Salesforce experience and proficiency is a requirement of the role
      • Familiar with ETL involving multiple data sources
      • Nice to have, experience with Salesforce integrations
  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills
    • Utilize communication and listening skills to understand operational needs of stakeholders
    • Sets expectations and timelines with stakeholders
    • Exceptional follow through and utilizes effective communication expectations such as updating on progress, closing the loop, etc.
  • Demonstrates analytical thinking, problem solving, and critical thinking to solve complex Salesforce and systems challenges and errors
  • Strong self-management and time management skills in prioritizing tasks. Ability to and enjoys working independently with minimal direction
  • Preferred: Comfortable with Excel, Google Sheets, Airtable, or other data processing and manipulation software
