Job Description:
Under general supervision of appropriate Manager, the Building Operator performs skilled HVAC/R, plumbing, electrical, steam system maintenance & operation and general housekeeping /maintenance of the assigned buildings or systems. Performs preventative maintenance on all building systems and components. The primary function of the position is to perform, repair, upgrade, schedule, and organize the upkeep of the assigned buildings, grounds, facilities, rooms, storage areas, and all of its equipment, services, and vehicles. The Building Operator will ensure the maintenance, safety, cleanliness, and organization of the building, its property, vehicles, and its contents
Minimum Qualifications:
• One (1) of the following is required at time of hire in the position:
o Documented United States Military boiler training and experience
o Industry recognized State or National Boiler Operators License
o Minimum 8 years commercial / industrial experience working in one (or a combination) of the following fields: Utility distribution, HVAC/R, Plumbing, Electrical or Boilers.
• Maintains a valid driver’s license and must be insurable under the University of Toledo’s driving policies
• Knowledge of general maintenance and general repair practices
• Ability to use math, read and write common vocabulary, read blueprints, understand manuals, and verbal instructions (technical in nature)
• Ability to walk, climb, bend, twist, kneel and lift up to 50 lbs.
