Many or most studies will be carried out collaboratively with others inside PVIC, and possibly with external collaborators.

The position will perform:

• Working with other students and postdoctoral researchers to identify fruitful studies, request solar cell and thin film samples, and collaborate on the analysis and write-ups of the results;
• Coordinating particle radiation tests with PVIC staff and personnel and external partners carrying out specific tests including accelerator-based as well as orbital flight-based tests;
• Designing and customizing experiments to achieve goals of space qualification of solar cells, and implanted dopant cells achieving high conversion efficiency;
• Writing quarterly technical progress reports as required by the sponsor;
• Educating others within PVIC regarding analysis of particle radiation studies;
• Travel to relevant conferences and workshops to learn new science and present research results.

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge of and experience with solar PV science and technology, including cell fabrication and characterization; good oral and written communication skills; experience with the fundamentals of one or more particle accelerators and their application to materials studies; experience in data analysis, computation, and solar spectra.
