Job Description:

Responsible for coordinating the clinical care of patients by assessing, planning, and facilitating progression through the plan of care. Responsible for the collection of clinical information to determine medical necessity for admission and continued hospitalization. Reviews and monitors utilization of resources throughout the stay. Functions to ensure optimal clinical and financial outcome, as well as optimal patient satisfaction. Demonstrates professional interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, families, physicians, other staff and the community.
Serves as a resource person for the Resource Utilization Coordinators. Assist Nursing Supervisor with Resource Utilization Coordinator assignments as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/experience/licensing:
• Current RN licensure in the state of Ohio.
• Bachelor degree in nursing required, Master’s preferred. *in lieu of a BSN, an RN holding a MSN, may be considered.
• Minimum 3 years nursing/clinical experience with in-patient surgical/trauma, intermediate care patients, ICU status patients, and medicine service patients. Must have documented evidence of expertise in the acute care hospital setting.
• Minimum 2 years experience as a Resource Utilization Coordinator, or 2 years experience in Case Management role or 2 years experience in Clinical Documentation role.
• Able to work flexible hours; may be required to rotate shifts and work weekends and holidays.
• Demonstrates the ability to assume a leadership/resource role.
• Current BLS certification.


Preferred Qualifications:

• Case Management or CCDS Certification preferred
