Job Description:

This role will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance to a centralized professional academic advising unit as well as providing centralized oversight for all undergraduate academic advising units throughout the university This role will serve as the liaison to the Provost Office and the Deans and Associate Deans, and execute a data informed, transformational advising model that leverages a combination of recommendations (CCA and NISS) and high impact practices to develop a holistic, proactive, and consistent approach to advising that focuses on the needs of UToledo students. The model will engage students where they are, ensure seamless transitions for all undergraduate student populations (DHS, adult, transfer, etc.) and include accountability measures. This role will also create and maintain a culture of accountability within the centralized advising unit and across the university. This leader will partner with academic colleges and other campus partners to ensure a cohesive and collaborative design is implemented that removes obstacles for students and provides opportunities for persistence and student success and is responsible for the assessment of undergraduate advising practices/outcomes campus-wide, reporting findings and proving recommendations for improvement annually.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/experience/licensing:
• Bachelors’ degree required plus five plus (5+) years of experience in this field
• Five to seven (5-7) years advising leadership experience.
• Experience developing and managing advising best practices.
• Experience coordinating services between multiple departments.
• Technologically proficient using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Experience with an enterprise resource information system, Banner preferred.
• Experience with Web Report Library or other reporting databases.
• Understanding of UToledo policies and procedures

• Ability to think creatively and strategically.
• Demonstrated ability to establish relationships and collaborate collegially and effectively with diverse students, staff, faculty, administrators, and the community.
• Demonstrated ability to organize and manage work, supervise staff effectively, and meet deadlines.
• Strong listening and organizational skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills essential. Ability to think creatively and strategically.
• Valid driver license.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree.
• Seven or more (7+) years of experience in this field.
