Job Description:

This position acts as the Chair’s representative while organizing and managing the Chair’s activities and calendar at the highest level of accuracy. This position supervises and manages the academic office, which includes 12 direct reports. The Assistant to the Chair relieves the Chair in the performance of a variety of complex administrative duties. This position assists the Chair in routine and complex responsibilities of the daily operations and administrative aspects of the Department of Medicine. The Assistant to the Chair exercises independent judgement and discretion as the Chair’s representative.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years administrative experience in an academic medicine setting is required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Advanced knowledge of computers, including word processing concepts, spreadsheet programs and databases (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous supervisory experience preferred.
