Job Description:

The Financial Counselor shall provide financial counseling to people living with or affected by HIV through the UTMC Care Clinic with the objectives of 1) monitoring the insurance status of the patients, 2) facilitating sliding fee scale and cap on charges 3) assisting clients in accessing and applying for insurance and financial assistance programs, 4) assisting staff with the financial aspects of maintaining patients in healthcare.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associates Degree or equivalent experience required
1 year experience with patient financial counseling or equivalent required

Preferred Qualifications:

1 year experience with medical billing, claims, or coding preferred
1 year experience associated with RWHAP core and support service(s) preferred
1 year experience in an ambulatory medical clinic preferred
Recent experience in the care of people living with HIV preferred
Current working knowledge of community resources preferred
Experience working with diverse populations preferred
Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
