Job Description:

Supply Chain Operations is comprised of the following sub areas: Central Distribution, Surgical Support Center, Linen Services, Mail Services, Surplus Property, and Shipping/Receiving. The Delivery Worker position in Supply Chain performs general services related to these areas in the handling of packages, supplies, linen, and equipment to designated areas as scheduled or requested throughout all campuses and offsite areas as assigned.

This position is expected to adhere to UTMC Service Values always including iCare standards.
- Adheres to hospital policies and procedures as well as addresses patient safety, performance improvement, and quality of care issues.
- Knowledgeable about patient safety and quality of care issues. Able to recognize safety issues in the department and handles incidents per institutional and/or departmental policies and procedures. If safety issues were identified; all issues were handled timely and appropriately.
- Attend and follow all department specific safety education and training to create a safe work environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be a high school graduate with the ability to complete basic math. (Those hired into Delivery Worker Positions prior to the high school diploma requirement, are considered grandfathered).
• Must possess working knowledge of computer systems to include Outlook.
• Ability to read and write common vocabulary.

Communication and other skills:
• Ability to deal with problems involving several variables and resolve within the scope of assigned duties.
• Ability to take assignments and directives from management.
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with fellow employees, vendors, students, and the general public.
• Communications must be culturally appropriate, tactful, and courteous.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding departmental operational issues.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1-2 years of inventory handling/warehouse environment experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology, sterile technique and case cart system in a hospital environment preferred
• Experience using a computer inventory management system and handheld technology preferred.
