Job Description:

To facilitate operational flow and staff support of the hemodialysis unit. These tasks are to be within the range of responsibilities that the RN can rightfully delegate to a licensed Dialysis Technician. The Dialysis Technician follows the direction of the Registered Nurse, the Charge Nurse, the Assistant Nursing Director/Nursing Director, as well as the House Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. High School Diploma
2. One year or more of Hemodialysis Technician experience, required
3. Must be a licensed Dialysis Technician through the Ohio board of nursing.
4. Ability to write legibly, speaks articulately, and follows directions accurately.
5. Ability to plan and organize work and to work under close supervision.
6. Willingness to accept responsibility for performing delegated functions of this position and to perform delegated duties in accordance with established methods and procedures.
7. Must be able to move about hospital and between workstations.
8. Ability to tolerate strenuous physical activity such as turning, stooping, bending, stretching, walking, and lifting. Must be able to move, lift, and/or carry materials and equipment weighing up to 10 lbs., 15% of the time; 20 lbs., 10% of the time; 50lbs. , 2% of the time; and move materials weighing up to 100lbs. , 1% of the time.
9. Must successfully master technical procedures and become familiar with a broad range of hemodialysis specific equipment and items during the 120 day probationary period.
10. Must be willing to rotate shifts and take call.
11. Physical requirements:
a. visual acuity of 20/20 or corrected to 20/20 including color vision when applicable;
b. ability to hear (with or without aides)
c. ability to orally communicate
d. good manual dexterity
e. ability to push, pull, roll, and transfer/lift 50 pounds occasionally
f. ability to stand, walk frequently
g. ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel frequently; and
h. ability to perform CPR (if a required for position).
