Job Description:

As a member of the health care team, provides advanced management of nursing care during the supervision and conduction of exercise testing of adult patients at UTMC. Coordinates daily activities in the exercise laboratories. Advises and collaborates with physicians, nursing staff, other hospital departments and heart and vascular center personnel to provide safe and patient-centered care.

Assesses, evaluates, supervises, intervenes, recovers, and refers as needed, all inpatients and outpatients undergoing exercise testing. Continuously monitors patient status before, during and after testing process and responds to patient needs according to patient care protocols. Responds to patient care needs throughout the heart and vascular center. Directs, coordinates organize, sets priorities, solves problems, makes judgments and decisions in a prudent and timely manner to provide superior patient care. Is accountable for all patient activity in the exercise labs. Demonstrates competency in the care of the patient in the following stages of the life cycle: adults and geriatrics.

Minimum Qualifications:

Current R.N. licensure in State of Ohio.
MSN with current or eligible APRN (Advanced Practice Registered Nurse) licensure in State of Ohio with emphasis on adult cardiac nursing.
Displays the ability to utilize expert intuition and critical thinking skills.
Must have ability to quickly recognize, identify and know treatment of cardiac dysrhythmias.
Must have knowledge of normal and basic abnormal 12-lead EKG findings.
Must be competent in the performance of cardiovascular and pulmonary history and physical examination.
ACLS training required (instructor status preferred).
AHA/CPR certification required in Basic Life Support Health Care Provider course as identified by The Heart and Vascular Center/Cardiology Clinic policy.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in performing diagnostic exercise testing. preferred.
Minimum of four years of experience in a coronary care unit or equivalent acute/critical care of adult patients with cardiac disease.
