The IT intern is responsible for effective desktop support, workstation provisioning,
installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software and related
infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing
innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems,
software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff and partners.
This individual will also be responsible for operating and maintaining AV equipment for corporate
events.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct support to users across the organization. This can include provisioning Mac or
    Windows PC and installing software, diagnosing connectivity or data access problems, answering
    questions about hardware or software. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server
    resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying
    completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Create, change, and delete user accounts on various IT related platforms.
  • Provide AV support and support all AV troubleshooting, including video conferencing and audio-
    conferencing room systems, digital screens, digital signage, and other related equipment.
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with
    impacted constituencies.
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.
    Configure / add new services as necessary.
  • Create and modify documentation related to IT Tasks.
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
  • Purchase of employee’s computers, laptop and peripherals.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server
    resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying
    completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Skills and Knowledge Required:
    Bachelor’s degree, with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science
  • Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends, sometimes with little advanced
    notice.
  • Provides occasional guidance, some of which is technical.
  • Problem-solving skills – IT specialist troubleshoot networks, computers, devices, etc.
  • Communication skills – Excellent written and verbal communication skills are vital in this role, since
    this individual works directly with users and IT department personnel.
  • Time management – Ability to easily move between duties and responsibilities to effectively
    prioritize and manage their own schedules.
  • Experience with managing Microsoft Office 365, Google Workspace (formerly known as G Suite),
    JAMF MDM, Zoom, and Mimecast is a plus.
