JOB DESCRIPTION

Work the managers across Plug & Play’s verticals in both the U.S. and Asia, on business development efforts to develop new investment and technology-based partnerships with government entities and corporations based in the Asia-Pacific (“APAC”) region, particularly in China. o Develop and advise on marketing plans and marketing media and activities that accommodate Chinese cultural and language norms. o Assist in the development of new services, and/or improvement of existing services, both of which come about based on the market research investigations and discussions with top level executives in Asia. o Develop pricing strategies to help maximize their profits and market share while ensuring that Asian corporate partners are satisfied.

• Initiate small-scale market research studies and analyze findings to understand new market opportunities across different industrial sectors in Asia. This will be done in conjunction with APAC partnership managers in each of the verticals. o Research competitive advantages and disadvantages of existing, government-affiliated programs for startup businesses, cross border initiatives, technological innovation, and entrepreneurship ecosystems. o Research recent corporate acquisitions by Asian-based companies. Review key metrics, including company revenues and profitability, and in particular the year-over-year growth in these metrics; industry-specific key performance indicators in comparison to incumbents and other Technology companies; and etc. o Follow the buyer's market and trends for startups being acquired. o Comparative and statistical review of start-up activity (overall volume, distribution across faculties, industry focus, intellectual Property generation, etc.). o Analyze and assess technological compatibility and integration possibilities between startups’ technologies and the larger APAC-based corporations’ portfolio of technologies. o Research and understand the longer-range ramifications of the technologies underlying the Asian-based companies being targeted.

• Engage in far-ranging discussions with top executives of targeted corporations and government officials, primarily those based in the APAC region, in order to assess strategic opportunities and cultivate partnerships- o Monitor trends and develop insights that indicate the need for new services, or ways to refine existing services, in new and existing markets. o Obtain insights unique to how APAC-based partners have leveraged our services to achieve success. o Demonstrate Plug and Play’s value to assist their corporate innovation efforts, in the case of potential partners. o Guide current partners to join additional verticals and locations, in collaboration with the respective managers.

• Work with Plug and Play’s dedicated marketing team to evaluate the text, other content, and “look and feel” of webpages targeted to the APAC market. The purpose is to ensure that they accommodate Asian (esp. Chinese) cultural and corporate language norms.

• Act as the main point of contact between Plug & Play and the APAC region, bridging the gaps between verticals and locations.

• Travel to Asia required 2-3 times per year to visit clients and associates.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a closely related field. 3 or more years of work experience as Business Development Analyst; Senior Vice President in a Business Development role; Deputy Manager in a Business Development role; or a closely related position. Fluency in Written Chinese and Spoken Mandarin is required.
