This position requires candidates to be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. | Summary | The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the institution’s data pipelines, integrations, and data platforms. This role ensures that data governance policies are technically implemented, including data quality rules, access controls, and metadata capture. The engineer supports academic, administrative, and clinical systems by enabling secure, reliable, and governed data flows. This position is essential for embedding governance into the institution’s technical infrastructure and ensuring high quality, compliant data for reporting, analytics, and operations. |
| Principal Functional Responsibilities | Data Pipeline and Integration Development: Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines between SIS, LMS, HRIS, CRM, financial systems, and clinical systems. Ensure pipelines enforce data quality, validation, and transformation rules. Optimize data workflows for performance, reliability, and scalability. Technical Governance Implementation: Implement role based access controls and data security rules in alignment with governance policies. Automate metadata capture, lineage tracking, and data quality monitoring. Partner with the Data Governance Analyst to embed governance into technical workflows. Data Platform Management: Support data warehouse, data lake, or analytics platform environments. Maintain data models, schemas, and storage structures. Ensure data availability and reliability for reporting and analytics. Compliance and Security: Implement technical controls to support FERPA, HIPAA, and accreditation requirements. Collaborate with IT security and compliance teams to ensure secure data handling. Monitor and remediate data quality and security issues. Collaboration and Support: Work closely with Institutional Research, Registrar, Finance, HR, and academic programs to understand data needs. Provide technical support for analytics, dashboards, and reporting tools. Assist with system upgrades, integrations, and data migrations. Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned. |
