Starting Salary Range: $42,391 – $50,000, commensurate with experience.

Summary
The Student Support Specialist leads educational outreach and training on student behavior expectations and provides structured support to students dealing with extenuating circumstances, maintaining a comprehensive list of student resources. The Specialist also assists the Assistant Director of Student Conduct and CAPP Administration with investigating and adjudicating violations of University policies such as the Student Code of Conduct, Honor Code, and hazing; and serves as the primary EEO officer for student cases, investigating reports of possible Civil Rights violations in accordance with institutional policies and laws. Additionally, the Specialist assists with supporting the Committee on Academic and Professional Progress (CAPP) by scheduling meetings, preparing decision letters, and managing the Leave of Absence (LOA) and Petition to Return (PTR) processes.
Principal Functional Responsibilities
Student Support: Provides non-clinical case management for students dealing with a variety of issues that may negatively impact their ability to succeed – this includes following-up of students referred to the Office of Student Services and/or the NEOMED Care Team. Develops and maintains a comprehensive list of resources for all NEOMED students. Processes student requests for Emergency Funding.

Student Conduct: Assists the Assistant Director with management of daily operations. May adjudicate cases, lead investigations, oversee formal and informal hearings as appropriate. Ensures the conduct process is educational, fair, timely, and student-centered, with a focus on restorative justice.
CAPP: Assists in providing administrative support to the Committee on Academic and Professional Progress (CAPP) by scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, minutes, decision letters, and student files, and maintaining communication and documentation for the committee and chairs.

Leave of Absence (LOA): Oversees Leave of Absence (LOA) and Petition to Return (PTR) processes to ensure timely approvals in collaboration with the CAPP chair.

Student Civil Rights Investigation: Serves as the primary EEO officer for student cases. Investigates reports of possible Civil Rights violations in accordance with institutional policies and laws. Offers appropriate resources and guidance to students who experience incidents. Informs students, faculty, and staff about bias-related policies, best practices, and proactive strategies for creating a safe and respectful educational environment.

Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned. May oversee budgets related to the above. May supervise student interns under their purview.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of higher education, student development, and university environments
  • Two years of experience in student affairs in a higher education setting
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Title IX, Cleary Act, FERPA, VAWA and other EEO federal statutes important to higher education.
  • Experience conducting administrative investigations.
  • Familiarity with Maxient software
  • Familiarity with Banner coding
Physical Requirements
Must be able to utilize a phone, computer and other office equipment.
