Summary
Full-time, non-tenure track appointment at either the assistant or associate professor rank (based on credentials and professional experience) in the College of Graduate Studies with special emphasis in identifying and treating patients with substance use disorders. They will be involved in creating and delivering graduate school level courses on providing care to individuals with behavioral health problems and specifically identifying and treating individuals with substance use disorders. They will be involved in both didactic and interactive learning experiences.
Principal Functional Responsibilities
Teaching and Service: Participate in graduate student education on topics involving patient care and identifying / treating individuals with substance use disorders. They will participate in creating and delivering talks, engaging with students in interactive learning experiences, and assessing student performance. Evaluating the success of teaching contributions may be based on student achievement, student evaluations, course/module director evaluations, and peer evaluations. Active participation on college and university committees will be required and assigned. Evaluating the success of service obligations will be based on level of participation and engagement in support of related activities. In addition, membership and participation in state and national professional organizations is strongly encouraged.

Research: Participate in scholarly activities as appropriate centered on the effectiveness of the MS-MHP curriculum and instructional methods.

Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
M.S.W, Ph.D., PsyD, MSN (Mental Health Nurse Practitioner), MPAS (Psychiatric Physician Assistant) or equivalent with at least 5 years of experience working in a substance use disorder treatment facility and experience in training mental health providers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Teaching Experience and Expertise: an educator with experience in curriculum and course development and implementation who can contribute to the teaching missions of the College of Graduate Studies. Successful candidates should be interested in educational innovation and up to date on contemporary educational approaches as well as being open to new educational approaches.
  • Scholarship: Track record of scholarship. Able contribute to the scholarship mission of the college and able to mentor students, fellows, and faculty as appropriate.
  • Collaborative: Can work collaboratively with administrators, faculty, staff, and students at the college and the university.
  • Humanistic Environment: Committed to building a humanistic culture/climate within the college and to fostering student success.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to utilize a phone, computer and other office equipment.
