Position Summary Information
Summary
The Bitonte College of Dentistry’s Assistant Dean for Admissions and Student Affairs is engaged with students in all phases of the process that leads to the successful completion of the D.D.S. degree, from admissions through graduation. The Assistant Dean will work collaboratively with the university’s admissions/enrollment and student services offices to provide leadership in admissions and student services for the Bitonte College of Dentistry. The Assistant Dean will maintain a faculty appointment in the Department of General Dentistry and will be actively engaged in teaching in the predoctoral program.
Principal Functional Responsibilities
Admissions: Work in collaboration with the university’s Senior Executive Director, Strategic Enrollment Initiatives to oversee all aspects of the student recruitment and admissions process. Ensure that the college meets all predoctoral admissions-related standards of the Commission on Dental Accreditation.
Student Affairs: Work in collaboration with the university’s Student Services office to oversee and address all student service needs within the college. Serve as the student advocate for dental students in academic and student conduct proceedings. Provide career advising for dental students. Manage the residency application process for dental students. Ensure that the college meets all predoctoral student services-related standards of the Commission on Dental Accreditation.
Teaching: Provide didactic, preclinical, and clinical instruction in all aspects of general dentistry to dental students in the Bitonte College of Dentistry’s DDS program.

Service: Active participation on college and university committees will be required. In addition, membership and participation in state and national professional dental organizations is strongly encouraged.

Qualifications
  • DDS/DMD degree from an ADA-accredited dental school, or equivalent.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Dentist License or a Limited Dental Teaching License in the state of Ohio at the time of appointment.
  • Teaching experience in predoctoral dental education.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Administrative Experience: Prior administrative experience in higher education and/or predoctoral dental education.
  • Admissions Experience: Prior experience in predoctoral dental student admissions.
  • Student Affairs Experience: Prior experience in predoctoral dental student affairs/student services.
  • Accreditation Knowledge and Experience: Knowledge of, and experience with, accreditation of predoctoral dental education programs by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
  • Teaching Experience and Expertise: Experienced dental educator with experience in didactic, preclinical, and clinical teaching in a predoctoral curriculum, including course development and implementation.
  • Clinical Experience: Prior clinical practice experience in general dentistry.
  • Contemporary Digital Technologies: Knowledge/experience in digital dentistry.
  • Collaborative: Can work collaboratively with administrators, faculty, staff, and students at the college and the university.
  • Humanistic Environment: Committed to building a humanistic culture/climate within the college and to fostering student success.

Must be able to utilize a phone, computer and other office equipment.

Department Specific Information
Starting Salary Range: $132,935 – $155,000, commensurate with experience
