Position Summary Information
Summary | The Program Director of the Certified Mental Health Assistant Program leads a 2-year training program which results in a Master of Medical Science in Mental Health (Certified Mental Health Assistant (CMHA)) degree. The Program Director will be responsible for developing/maintaining the curriculum, developing/maintaining admission standards, coordinating pre-clinical classes and clinical rotations, and overseeing faculty and staff issues all aimed at achieving and maintaining accreditation through the Higher Learning Commission. This is a full-time non-tenure track appointment. Faculty rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. |

Principal Functional Responsibilities | Teaching and Service Responsibilities: Perform instructional duties as assigned in support of the program. Participate in graduate student education based on areas of expertise. Collaborate with the CMHA medical director and course directors to link session content to established course objectives, identify curricular deficiencies and modify content accordingly, participate in activities that assure courses are horizontally and vertically integrated and aligned with program accreditation standards, understand and incorporate educational best practices as well as national standards for all teaching and learning activities. Ensure that continuous and competent educational guidance is provided, so that the didactic demands placed by the clinical educational environment are adequately addressed by classroom curriculum design. Contribute to the following:
Active participation on college and university committees will be required and assigned. In addition, membership and participation in state and national professional organizations is strongly encouraged. Evaluating the success of service obligations will be based on level of participation and engagement in support of related activities. Administrative Responsibilities: Effectively administer and grow the Certified Mental Health Assistant program including curriculum development, student registration/advisement, community relations and campus relations. Work with NEOMED Admissions office to develop admission criteria, assist with recruiting efforts, and manage evaluation of applicants to ensure the highest quality of CMHA students. Work with College of Graduate Studies to recruit, hire and maintain faculty and staff for the CMHA program. Collaborate with the Dean, Course Directors and curricular governance regarding identified areas of concern in curricular content. Assures full compliance with federal, state and accrediting body standards and regulations, as well as adhering to all policies and procedures. Adhere to curricular governance policies and procedures for teaching and course leadership. Organize, administer, continuously review, plan, and develop processes that ensure effectiveness of didactic education in the program. Facilitates the submission of required programmatic fees and documentation, including reports of graduation rates, performance on state licensing or certification examinations and employment rates. Develop and oversee and manage the budget for CMHA program Represent the program as needed on related academic committees. Participate in continuous quality improvement related to program design and delivery. Collaborate with clinical faculty to ensure course content is grounded in both medical and basic sciences. Provide mentorship and academic advisement to students. Select, train, develop, manage, and lead regular and adjunct faculty according to the guidelines provided by the University.
