Position Summary Information
Summary
Operate a motor vehicle to transport materials, process incoming and outgoing mail, receive and deliver incoming packages and/or parcels at the shipping and receiving dock and collect and sort campus recyclables.
Principal Functional Responsibilities
Vehicle Operation and Material Handling: Safely operate a motor vehicle to pick-up and/or deliver materials, supplies, and mail to and from designated locations. Safely operate motorized and manual material handling equipment such as tow-motor, electrically operated pallet jack, hand-operated pallet jack, and shrink wrapper.
Shipping and Receiving: Load and unload vehicles. Accept, inspect, verify, and record incoming packages, parcels and materials cross-referencing with packing slips and/or purchase orders. Record and log all incoming and outgoing compressed gas cylinders. Deliver nitrogen gas cylinders to respective departments and returns empty cylinders to dock cylinder storage area.
Mail Processing and Distribution: Process incoming and outgoing mail by machine or hand; address, sort, stamp, bundle, tie, and register; process first class, bulk and certified mail. Distribute and receive mail and/or parcels to and from departments throughout institution to include interoffice mail.
Recycling: Collect and sort campus recyclables for disposal.
Miscellaneous Duties: Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid State of Ohio Vehicle Operators license (required)
  • Six months of any one or combined experience of the following: Delivery/Courier service, Shipping and Receiving clerk and/or United States Postal Service training or institutional mail service.
  • Ability to operate motor vehicles, tow-motor and pallet moving equipment.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to utilize applicable tools and equipment necessary for the job, as well as other office equipment. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, sit; talk; and hear. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.

Department Specific Information
Starting Pay Rate Range: $13.18 – $15.38
