Position Summary Information
Summary
The Assistant Dean of Curriculum is a full-time administrative position that provides leadership and expertise to ensure rigorous evaluation of the MD educational program. This position requires understanding and oversight of evaluation and performance outcomes pertaining to the courses of the College of Medicine curriculum and facility with data structures and data analysis. Job responsibilities include: administrative oversight of curriculum data acquisition, infrastructure and analysis, the quality of student assessments: curriculum evaluation and assessments; participation in curricular quality improvement efforts; accreditation compliance for curricular evaluation, and collaboration with and support of course directors with respect to course data and outcomes.

Starting Salary Range: $87,407-$104,888

Principal Functional Responsibilities
LEADERSHIP AND ADMINISTRATION:
  • Lead, design and empower a data team to deliver exceptional programs of evaluation and learner assessment. Functionally supervise staff, including establishing goals, monitoring, and evaluating performance. Provide feedback and counsel to improve efficiency and effectiveness of data management processes.
  • Provide oversight for implementation of curriculum committee recommendations related to course effectiveness and quality improvement. Evaluate and measure curricular integration. Oversee curriculum database.
  • Collaborate and communicate with Course Directors and COM curricular leadership regarding identified areas of concern.
  • Engage in the design, implementation, research, evaluation, and delivery of the curriculum. Represent the institution at professional meetings and related committees.

CURRICULUM DATA & INFRASTRUCTURE:
  • Lead and oversee the development of curriculum data infrastructure utilizing best practices in measurement, learner assessment, and program evaluation ensuring that faculty, staff, and student data needs are met. Facilitate the development and maintenance of a system of evaluation and assessment design, as well as collection, reporting, and dissemination of curriculum data. Ensure a culture of service excellence.
  • Serve as the College of Medicine’s “super administrator” for software system(s) such as curriculum inventory, evaluation, and student assessment; oversee, design, and support all modules related to the system(s) and serve as principal point of contact for the software vendor(s).
  • Provide leadership and serve as liaison to University departments, including: Academic Technology Services, Information Technology, Enrollment Services and Institutional Research.

CURRICULUM EVALUATION & ASSESSMENT:
  • Ensure that program evaluations are aligned with LCME accreditation standards and lead efforts in continuous quality improvement, including improving processes of competency-based assessments, course evaluations, and faculty evaluations.
  • Lead, facilitate and participate in all appropriate curricular, assessment, CQI and policy meetings.
  • Review overall student performance and curricular effectiveness annually using standard measures. Prepare and share relevant information with stakeholders.
  • Ensure that individual learning objectives are appropriately linked to course objectives and to performance outcomes. Monitor NEOMED student performance outcome metrics against national norms and identify performance predictors.
CONTINUOUS QUALITY IMPROVEMENT:
  • Initiate and implement Lean Six Sigma process improvements to enhance data utilization and the flow of information to support the delivery of an exceptional student and faculty experience and optimal learning environment.
  • Collaborate with College and University leadership to clarify and resolve data issues, and to streamline and improve processes.

Qualifications
Education/Degrees: Must possess an MD, PhD, EdD, or other terminal degree and certifications in a related field.
Experience:
  • 2-4 years of experience in undergraduate, graduate, and/or medical student teaching or curricular support.
  • Evidence of expertise and understanding of educational pedagogy, design of systems capturing learner feedback and course evaluations, and i.3nvolvement in student assessment.
  • Experience with programmatic and/or institutional accreditation.
  • Significant experience with instructional technology and organizing data.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to utilize a phone, computer and screen and other office equipment. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk; or hear and occasionally stand, walk, reach, stoop, or kneel. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
