Summary
SUMMARY: The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences seeks a highly motivated senior research assistant to provide support to faculty. This position offers opportunity for candidates who are interested in gaining research experience in identifying biomarkers for early disease diagnosis and personalized therapy. The specific experience and exposure may be well suited for anyone wanting to gain research experience in precision medicine and pharmaceutical research. The position is available immediately. The following position description details the desired characteristics for appointment to this position:

Responsibilities include: (1) support of research studies pertaining to genetic impact on hepatic/intestinal proteins and the way they interact with drugs and disease pathways, (2) operation of mass spectrometry, (3) maintenance of cells in culture, performance of cell treatment, harvesting and biochemical analysis, (4) data acquisition, storage, retrieval and statistical analysis, (5) maintenance of an up-to-date chemical inventory and a detailed laboratory record/notebook, (6) compliance with general laboratory safety requirements. The qualified applicant must have strong organizational skills, the ability to work independently, and conduct multiple experiments simultaneously.

Principal Functional Responsibilities
1. Support of research studies pertaining to genetic impact on hepatic/intestinal proteins and the way they interact with drugs and disease pathways, such as sample preparation and bioanalysis, in accordance with written protocols
2. Maintenance of cells in culture, performance of cell treatment, harvesting and biochemical analysis, in accordance with written protocols
3. Operation of mass spectrometry for bioanalysis
4. Data acquisition, storage, retrieval and statistical analysis
5. Aiding in general laboratory operations under direct supervision of the principal investigator. Maintenance of an up-to-date chemical inventory and a detailed laboratory record/notebook. Compliance with general laboratory safety requirements. Ordering laboratory supplies and maintaining well-organized record-keeping.
6. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Degrees:
Minimum requirement is a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in any of the related fields such as: Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences etc. with emphasis on research techniques, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:
2+ years of research experience; working experience in analytical chemistry and any related laboratory research experience are preferred.
