Reports directly to Dr. Yanqiao Zhang, Department of Integrative Medical Sciences. Responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tasks and experiments that directly support the primary research focus. Employs surgical and molecular techniques to make detailed observations, quantitatively analyze data, and interpret results. Works independently and especially in collaboration with others on projects and is responsible for investigating and developing new methods for project advancement.

1) Plans and performs animal studies, including weaning, genotyping, special diet or water feeding, tissue isolation, primary hepatocyte isolation, isolation of aortas,etc.
2) Perform molecular cloning, RNA isolation, qRT-PCR, Western blotting, lipid extraction and quantification
3) Perform tissue sectioning and staining (oil red O, Sirius red, H & E, immunostaining)
4) Provide support for lab business (equipment maintenance, P-card reconciliation, etc.
5) Perform other studies assigned by the PI.
6) Perform tissue culture, transient transfection, propagation of adenoviruses
7) Provides technical training to students and visiting researchers as necessary.

Education/Degrees: Bachelor or Master degree in Biological Science.
Experience: Minimum 2 years laboratory research experience; 2 years of animal care experience.

Must be able to utilize a phone, computer, and screen and other office equipment. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk;
or hear and occasionally stand, walk, reach, stoop, or kneel.
Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Ability to collect experimental data and handle animals.
