Position Summary Information
Summary
The qualified applicant will report to Dr. Jessica Ferrell and will be responsible for performing a variety of experiments to accomplish the goals of NIH-funded research in alcoholic fatty liver disease. The position requires handling of animals and familiarity with molecular biology techniques and statistical analysis of data. The applicant should be comfortable working independently and collaboratively with other lab members.

Starting Salary Range: $46,300

Principal Functional Responsibilities
  • Perform specified experiments to study the pathogenesis of alcoholic fatty liver disease
  • Work with the research team on assigned projects
  • Analyze data and interpret statistical results
  • Create and annotate data as figures and tables for presentation and publication
  • Write manuscripts and fellowship applications
  • Keep accurate records of completed work
  • Deliver data presentations in lab meetings and scientific meetings
  • Supervise and train students and volunteers in the lab
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in biochemistry, physiology, molecular biology, or related field
  • Ability to follow, design, and perform required experimental research protocols
  • Prior experience in molecular biology techniques and mouse phenotyping is preferred
  • Ability to perform statistical analyses and interpret results
