As a senior counsel in Progressive’s Corporate Legal organization, you'll be responsible for managing commercial litigation including a variety of consumer-to-business and business-to-business disputes, pre-litigation matters, and third-party subpoenas. You'll partner with outside counsel, other legal services providers, and other functions in Corporate Legal to develop and execute litigation strategy, protect Progressive’s business interests, and serve as a strategic legal partner to Progressive's business operations.
Must have qualifications
- Juris Doctorate
- Active license to practice law in at least one state; Active or Corporate license in state where working
- Minimum 5 years of legal experience/training
- Expertise managing all phases of the e-discovery process, collaborating closely with e-discovery vendors, advising on discovery across matters, facilitating privilege reviews and legal holds, and related processes
- Experience representing defendant corporations, including public companies, in consumer-to-business and business-to-business litigation
- Hands-on commercial/business litigation experience, including substantive motion practice, managing discovery and representing clients in court proceedings, settlement discussions and at mediation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to simplify and effectively communicate complex legal issues to business line stakeholders
- Advanced legal research and analysis skills and ability to apply research analysis practically to commercial/business litigation
- Ability to work collaboratively, advocate appropriately in team settings, and influence and persuade team members and business partners at all levels tactfully and effectively
Compensation
- $109,300 - $156,100/year
- Gainshare bonus up to 40% of your eligible earnings based on company performance
- Participation in our restricted stock units plan
Location
- Mayfield Village, Ohio is preferred
- Frequent travel will be expected
- Must be willing to work eastern standard business hours
