JOB SUMMARY:

The Quality & CI Engineer will be responsible for executing the development and implementation in accordance with NTC Quality Management’s strategies and directions of quality management systems, quality assurance and control programs internally and externally with supplier to ensure product quality, reliability, increase customer satisfaction. This position will also participate in Continue Improvement, Lean, Sig Sigma and VAVE activities with sourced good suppliers. These responsibilities cover all responsible product categories and externally-sourced products for retail and end-user customers.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Effectively execute NTC Quality Management’s strategies and directions to improve customer-facing quality performance across the globe. Prioritize and implement predictive (versus reactive) tools and techniques.
  • Effectively execute quality processes, from product development to manufacturing, and to customer support, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and adherence to the most stringent quality standards.
  • Effectively implement best quality practices and commit to the culture of continuous improvement for product quality within our organization and suppliers.
  • Effectively achieve the defined key performance indicators (KPIs) for externally-sourced products to monitor quality performance and effectively manage non-conformances.
  • Effectively perform failure analysis, isolate causes of non-conformance, and implement corrective actions.
  • Effectively collaborate internal engineering resources and supplier technical personnel/resources if required.
  • Timely review and update quality plans, defect lists and pre-shipment inspection procedures of responsible product categories to ensure desired quality level is clear and meaningful.
  • Participate in regular quality review meeting with global quality counterparts to review and define area’s to be enhanced to meet quality expectation.
  • Regularly / timely review quality performance (KPIs), major non-conformances, corrective actions of responsible product categories and externally-sourced products suppliers, drive improvements through root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering and Marketing. Document quality requirements and inspection criteria for new products of responsible product categories. Ensure requirements are incorporated into the New Product Development process and establish quality performance standards prior to production start.
  • Collaborate with Global Procurement to hold suppliers accountable for actual expenses related to non-conforming products. Work with Global Procurement to pursue cost recovery for quality-related expenses.
  • For the responsible product categories, consulting with the design, manufacturing, and procurement teams in critical-to-quality factors as it relates to product development, processes, sourcing, and qualification of new vendors.
  • Effectively execute and monitor quality activities to ensure products comply to Newell quality standards.
  • Fully engage and support new product development, deliver quality tasks with good quality, and follow defined quality related RACI.
  • Identify and resolve issues proactively and effectively, elevate our product offerings, and strengthen customer satisfaction.
  • Well manage customer’s audits & testing (Costco GMP, FCCA, TGCC,CPSIA) and the relevant CAPs.
  • Support all pre-shipment inspection activities, assisting QC manager & leaders to ensure PSI is done professionally as per defined requirements.
  • Effectively drive responsible suppliers on PSI DPPM reduction (identification, analysis, improvements & control) with collaboration of Quality Inspectors.
  • Work closely / effectively with and support our suppliers to ensure they meet our quality standards by implementing a robust quality control system, use statistical process control techniques to identify and address variation, control product quality in various stages of manufacturing processes to PSI.
  • Hold regular quality review with suppliers to ensure product quality is meet to expectations, and drive for improvement if required.
  • Effective execute supplier and product audits, and drive improvements at responsible suppliers, including supplier quality management system audit, periodical product audits, line audits, enforcing established KPIs for supplier quality to verify quality performance criterion are met for in-process, end-of-line, and end user (field).
  • Effectively implement supplier quality scorecard and blacklist processes on responsible suppliers.
  • Effectively conduct new supplier audit and qualified supplier is identified for next step.
  • Ensure supplier’s lab is qualified and capable of performing product qualification to our expectation.
  • Identify, propose, lead and execute VA/VE projects with responsible product category / suppliers.
  • Identify, propose, lead and execute CI (Six Sigma, Lean Production) projects with responsible product category / suppliers.
  • Effectively implement VA/VE & CI events at suppliers and assure realization of viable opportunities with the goal of maximizing consumer value and quality.
  • Maintain a global perspective on all CI projects to ensure avoidance of any negative impacts that could affect global or regional products form, fit, function, performance, warranties, repair part compatibility, and certifications.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s technical based degree required.
  • 5-12 Years work experience including >2 years of experience quality relevant roles.
  • 3+ year consumer good manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Experience with outdoor and/or sporting goods products preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communicational skills. Expert in developing and delivering presentations preferred.
  • Ability to think and plan systematically, operating in KPI driven culture.
  • Effective problem analysis and problem resolution at both a practical and executional level.
  • Familiar with using of statistics for reporting and problem solving – CPK, Pareto Chart, Regression at the least.
  • Familiar with using of quality / logical tools for quality issues analysis and resolving – FEMA, 5 whys, 5W1H, Fishbone Diagram, 8D CAP at a least.
  • Successful demonstration of pro-actively identifying and communicating tasks and following through; self-starter.
  • Practical experience in Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing projects and background.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9000 system/QS9000.
  • Knowledge of programming for database / data analysis.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing design (3D Design).
