Bookstore Associate & Inventory Specialist

Visible Voice Books is a brick-and-mortar bookstore located in Cleveland’s Tremont neighborhood. It is an independent bookstore with an emphasis on fiction, modern poetry, art, music, film, counter culture and current events. The 2,000 square foot store currently holds an inventory of new, used, and antiquarian books exceeding 7,000 titles. It also features craft beer selections, a wine bar/cafe, coffee, soft drinks, and events.

The brick-and-mortar is complemented with a significant online market presence.

The online business has over 70,000 books listed online and a constant flow of additional books that need to be inventoried.

Full time position consists of the following:

1. Full Time Store Associate/Social Media Store Marketing:

The person in this role would assist customers by recommending and locating books and other items, as well as completing general bookstore/café tasks such as utilizing POS system, shelving, dusting, creating displays. Writing shelf talkers and serving customers coffee/pastries. In addition, the ideal candidate would be willing to take on our store social media marketing responsibilities which would include updating our website, producing our newsletter, and posting bookstore news on social media sights such as Facebook and Instagram. We’re looking for someone smart and creative who wants to take ownership of the position. Customer service skills and an eye for detail are very important in this role.

Qualifications:

· Strong customer service and communication skills

· Past retail, and/or bookstore experience

· Demonstrates a passion for books and literature

· Tech savvy and comfortable with a range of windows-based software systems

· Self-motivated and conscientious in your work

· Able to work some weekends

· Willingness to engage in marketing activities

2. Archivist/Inventory Specialist:

Experience is a plus but not required. We are willing to train someone for this position. The person in this role would research, catalog, and price antiquarian and used books, fill online orders and answer inquiries from online customers. If you have an interest in books, consider yourself very detailed, patient, self-starting hard worker and willing to learn, then we can teach you the rest!

· Self-motivated, willingness to learn and conscientious in your work

· Able to handle detailed work in an efficiently timely manner

· Strong communication skills

· Past retail and/or online commerce experience a plus however not required
