Position Summary

The Multimedia Designer is responsible for bringing the JumpStart brands to life through innovative graphic design, photography and multimedia content for JumpStart and its targeted audiences. In conjunction with the Director of Digital Marketing, the Multimedia Designer will leverage their own talents and skills, as well as those of external agencies, to help JumpStart realize it’s mission and effectively engage its audiences. This is done through visual communications solutions such as publications and print assets, data infographics, event promotion and production visuals, social media graphics, and other new media content in collaboration with the Marketing team.

The Multimedia Designer must:

  • Consider creative visual development from a holistic perspective and offer strategic solutions to both simple and complex scenarios.
  • Be self-driven, proactive and comfortable making informed decisions that fulfill marketing and communications needs across the organization and for its clients.
  • Act with great expediency when producing, or managing the production of, creative work.
  • Listen to design needs, generate concepts and present to internal and external stakeholders with professionalism and preparedness.
  • Develop design deliverables which are not only visually interesting but clearly communicate key messaging/data points based on the brief.
  • Manage all design requests from customers, clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage vendor relationships with local print production partners.
  • Help prioritize what is important to emphasize in terms of visual storytelling.
  • Regularly identify and address existing issues of brand identity and brand iteration.

Essential Job Functions

1. Brand Management (20%)

  • Define and oversee the implementation of JumpStart's visual brand identities (colors, fonts, logo use, templates, etc.) including sub-brands and programs across the organization to help elevate the brand perception as a whole..
    • Develop new brand identities and refresh current ones as dictated by strategic priorities and brand age.
    • Create, maintain, implement and distribute brand guidelines.
    • Lead colleagues and contractors to achieve high standards of quality and consistency in alignment with brand guidelines.

2. Creative Services (60%)

  • Lead and manage all design development and provide superior graphic services by conceptualizing, creating and implementing effective solutions for print, digital and multimedia applications.
    • Manage print houses and all production processes with a deep understanding of print industry standards, capabilities and techniques.
    • Accountable for all visual assets for print and digital delivery to ensure brand integrity.
  • Create original assets and compositions, including, but not limited to: 1) business cards, 2) stationery, 3) permanent and temporary environmental signage, 4) fundraising materials, 5) public reports (economic impact, venture capital, etc.), 6) email and digital communications, 7) website and social media assets, 8) microsites and landing pages, 9) presentation graphics, 10) animations and video elements 11) infographics and 12) advertising campaigns
    • Lead and execute (or identify and manage resources to assist in) event experience design for all JumpStart events.
    • Direct, produce and edit multimedia materials including video titles, PowerPoint, digital signage and other designed materials.
    • Direct or execute marketing-related photoshoots and special events to build a strong asset library of branded photography.

3. Client Support (5%)

  • Provide marketing assistance to JumpStart and external clients.
    • Review current materials and make recommendations for maximum impact.
    • Provide effective and accessible tools and resources for staff to maintain visual brand standards for day-to-day and unique use cases.
    • Apply knowledge of creative iteration, marketing strategy and business-oriented design in order to produce measurable results.
    • Be a strategic partner beyond the creative process by aligning with organizational goals to develop tailored solutions.

4. Resource/Asset Management (10%)

  • Lead internal processes related to marketing and communications work including, but not limited to:
    • The direction, collection, storage and communication of all digital assets for JumpStart needs, including all photography needs.
    • The identification, sourcing, production, and QC for all digital, audio, print vendors and contracted creative services.
  • Manage all print and design-related vendor relationships.

5. Miscellaneous (5%)

  • Support staff and Marketing-related events and other duties as necessary.

Direct Reports

  • This position has no direct reports. Occasional intern management will be expected on a project basis.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

· Modest physical activity required for lifting and moving office supplies, equipment, and furniture on occasion

· Normal professional office environment

· Eligible for hybrid work agreement

Required Qualifications

· A willingness to live and work in the Cleveland area.

Education, Training and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communication, media production or similar field.
  • 3-5 years of professional graphic design experience.
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced marketing/design agency environment is strongly preferred.
  • Progressive experience in design and production with adherence to brand standards and production specs, as well as typography, color and compositional principles.
  • Experience in visual brand development for startups and small businesses a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personals Characteristics

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (especially PowerPoint and SharePoint)
  • Expert in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects
  • Digital photography and photo retouching
