SUMMARY

This position provides customer service by completing orders of food and nonfood products, assisting agencies with order pick-ups and maintaining high standards of warehouse sanitation and safety. Performance of the following duties is done personally.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. This list is not all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

  • Assembles agency orders accurately, from stock, utilizing assigned pick lists or voice picking technology to confirm location and quantity to complete the order.
  • Ensures the product is properly staged on a pallet and accurately marked indicating the agency’s name and the appropriate information for orders shipping or scheduled to be picked up. Including the correct location, order shipment date, and either the Route for Delivery for the Pick-up Appointment time.
  • Deliver completed orders to designated staging areas for pickup or delivery.
  • Assists in inventory counting as requested or instructed by supervisor.
  • Maintains required job knowledge and skills and core professional competencies, including attending and participating in required educational programs and staff meetings.
  • Maintain high standards of warehouse sanitation and safety at all times. Ensures that empty pallets and production packaging are removed from aisle ways, cooler and freezer.
  • Provide housekeeping services for the warehouse areas and other areas, as scheduled, or necessary, to maintain the highest level of cleanliness and pest control.
  • Immediately reports to supervisor any repairs that are necessary or required, ensuring that facility and equipment is properly maintained and in good working condition.
  • Removes dangerous conditions prior to an accident or injury occurring (i.e., water spill clean-up, etc.).
  • Remove any damaged or leaking cases from inventory and following the procedures for properly deducting the item(s) from the inventory management system.
  • Actively support and champion initiatives aimed at driving continuous improvement throughout the organization. May participate in one of the following: LEAN council, a kaizen, 5S campaign or other process improvement efforts to support continuous improvement and improved processes within the food bank.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

HS Diploma/GED preferred. One to two years warehouse/material handling experience required. Previous customer service experience preferred. Tow motor certification required. Serve-safe certified, preferred. Required commitment to making interactions across different cultures and backgrounds a strength of our organization as demonstrated through work, life or community experience.

Physical Requirements and Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Salary Range: $20 per hour
